The Catholic presence on Pelee Island dates back to 1869, when the first Catholic church was established to serve the growing community of faithful on this unique Canadian island. For over 150 years, our parish has been a spiritual home for residents and visitors alike.
Today, we are known as Parish of Pelee Island, proudly serving as part of the Erie Shores South Catholic Family of Parishes in the Diocese of London. This family of parishes includes communities in Leamington, Kingsville, Wheatley, and our island home.
Our location on Pelee Island—Canada's southernmost inhabited point—makes us a unique parish community. We blend the timeless traditions of the Catholic faith with the distinctive character of island life, creating a warm and welcoming spiritual home.
Our church building features beautiful architecture and sacred elements that inspire prayer and devotion. The warm interior with traditional Catholic elements creates a peaceful atmosphere for worship and contemplation.
Beyond Sunday Mass, we gather for fellowship, social events, and community meals. Our parish is a place where lasting friendships are formed and everyone is welcomed with open arms.
Our parish family includes year-round island residents, seasonal visitors, and tourists from around the world who join us in celebrating the Mass. We are farmers and vintners, business owners and retirees, young families and longtime parishioners—united in our Catholic faith.
As part of the Diocese of London and the worldwide Catholic Church, we participate in the rich tradition of Catholic worship, sacraments, and teaching. Our bishop is the Most Reverend Bishop of London, and we maintain strong connections with our sister parishes in the Erie Shores South Catholic Family.
